Here are some pictures I took at the Pork Festival in my home town of Tipton, Indiana. I happened to be in town while the parade was going through so I thought I would stop off and see what I could find. Surprisingly the Christian paraphernalia and displays were everywhere even though the festival was of a different genre.
Please join us Thursday, December 8, 2005 in Butler University's Roberston Hall Johnson Room from 3 to 6 p.m. Student photos, journals, and shrines will be on display. Light refreshments will be served. Generously sponsored by Butler University's Honors Program, R.E.A.C.H., and the Center For Faith and Vocation. A special thank you goes to Melissa Ludwa for coordinating the event.
About this project
"Everyday Gods” is an Honors course offered at Butler University. The project of the course is to have students render the familiar world of the intersections of religion and popular culture unfamiliar. Throughout the semester the students keep a photo journal to chronicle their efforts and finds. Excerpts will be published here. December 8, 2005 we will hold a final exhibit of student photos and journals in Butler University's Johnson Room. Check back for an update on the event.
